Seasons and Months Poster

Understanding the seasons of the year and the months of the year is such an exciting learning milestone for kids! Whether you’re a teacher, homeschooler, or parent, helping children recognize seasonal changes and how they relate to different months is a key early learning skill. That’s why I’ve created this seasons poster—a simple, visual, and interactive tool to help student see, learn, and remember the four seasons and the months within them.

Why Teach Kids About the Seasons and Months?

I think having a seasons of the year chart is a must for any classroom. It’s not just a great visual for classroom décor, but it also supports children’s learning by helping them make sense of time, weather and seasonal activities.

Young children love talking about the world around them, and learning about seasons for kids helps them:

✔ Recognise weather changes (e.g., why summer is hot and winter is cold).
✔ Develop seasonal vocabulary (words like “blossom” ,”harvest” or “frost”)
✔ Understand real-life events (e.g birthdays, holidays or what clothes to wear).

How This Seasons Chart Printable Helps Kids Learn

This seasons and months poster for the classroom is:

  • Colourful and engaging – Each season is clearly labelled with its corresponding months.
  • Easy to understand – A simple layout makes it perfect for young learners.
  • Great for classrooms and homeschooling – Works wonderfully as part of a seasons bulletin board or in a seasons poster for kindergarten classrooms.

I would definitely have this on my list of must-have classroom resources at the start of the year. It helps children get used to seeing the seasons and understanding how the months of the year fit into each one.

Fun Ways to Use the Seasons and Months Chart

Want to make learning even more interactive? Here are some fun ideas for using this seasons chart your preschool learners will love:

Matching Game – Ask kids to match seasonal pictures (like snowflakes, pumpkins or flowers) to the correct season on the chart.

Calendar Tracking – Have children circle the current month or put a peg next to it and discuss the season it belongs to.

4 Seasons in 1 Drawing Activity – Encourage kids to draw one big tree with four different seasonal changes. This is a great visual way to understand seasonal transformations!

✔ Seasonal Dress-Up – Let kids pick clothes for each season and match them to the seasons poster printable (e.g., shorts for summer, scarves for winter).

Pair with a Weather Chart – A seasons poster for preschool pairs perfectly with a classroom weather chart. Check out my free classroom calendar kit, which includes weather charts too! SO much learning and vocabulary development happens when kids use these together!
