Enhance with real objects – Make the area more immersive with: Pots, pans, aprons, cups, plates, and cutlery (easily sourced from donations or second-hand stores).
Enhance with cash and /or cards – Use play money and credit/debit cards (I have a free printable for this that pairs perfectly! Whoop whoop!).
Include a child-sized kitchen unit (IKEA has great options— I personally bought one for my class and it was super easy to assemble!), small table and chairs.
Encourage mark-making & writing – Provide copies of the order forms and to-do lists to inspire kids to write with purpose. This makes learning meaningful and connects early literacy skills with play.
